What is a Danish oval table

The shape is also known as boatshape or compass shape. The flattened ends create extra seats at the head of the table, while the soft corners stay safe because there are no sharp points. At the same length, a Danish oval table offers more usable table surface than a table with fully rounded ends. That way you combine the elegance of an oval with the functionality of a longer table.

Sizing advice and seats

The standard sizes run from 180 cm for around 6 people, through 210 cm for 7 to 8 people and 240 cm for 8 people, to 280 cm for 10 people. The standard height is 75 cm. Seven to eight people sit comfortably at a table, with three along each long side and one at each flattened end. Wood and version

The classic choice is solid oak, available in natural, white-wash or dark stain, which suits the Scandinavian look perfectly. For a modern and accessible look there are versions in solid mango or suar wood. For made-to-measure work, oak combinations with taupe or sand-coloured tops are also possible. The standard top thickness is around 4 to 5 cm, and with made-to-measure work you can choose from clean 3 cm tops to robust 8 cm tops.
