Good to know: Karpi also weaves the official licensed lines of Riviera Maison and fashion designer Mart Visser. Those collections have their own brand page with us.

About the Karpi brand

Karpi has specialised in rugs for many years and has built a reputation by closely following trends and continuing to innovate. An in-house team of trend watchers translates the latest interior trends into fresh designs, which are then executed in the brand's own recognisable way.

Because Karpi designs and produces all of its rugs itself, the brand retains control over quality and appearance. The result is a collection with a distinctive look that gives your interior a unique atmosphere.

Materials and colours

The collection includes both natural and synthetic rugs. Natural yarns give a warm, authentic appearance, while synthetic rugs are often hard-wearing and easy to maintain, handy in spaces with a lot of foot traffic.

Sustainability plays a major role at Karpi. Many rugs are made from recycled yarns, and at the end of a long life those yarns can be reused for a new rug. That way you choose a rug that is both beautiful and responsibly made.

Quality and specifications in numbers

Whether a rug is good quality depends above all on where it is going to lie. So first, what the collection actually holds. We carry 290 Karpi rugs, and for each rug the material, the pile type and the lead time are stated on the product page.

  • Pile: 169 rugs are high pile and 109 are low pile. For 12 rugs no pile type is stated.
  • Yarn: 159 rugs contain synthetic yarn, 91 polyester, 49 cotton, 42 wool, 17 polypropylene, 15 viscose and 13 chenille. In 100 of the 290 there is at least one natural fibre, so wool, cotton or viscose.
  • Price: from 43 to 1604 euro, with 303 euro as the middle price. Wool is the most expensive group, from 485 to 949 euro. Rugs containing polypropylene run from 110 to 405 euro.
  • Lead time: 257 of the 290 are available from stock in the standard sizes within 1 to 2 weeks. The remaining 33 are made to order in 6 to 8 weeks.
  • Collections: 53 different ones, of which Pablo is the largest with 33 rugs, followed by Cisco with 28 and Beach Life and Plush with 17 each.

Karpi does not state a wear class or a certification mark per rug, so you will not find that with us either. What you do get per rug is the material, the pile type, the available shapes and the lead time, and in the showroom you can feel the pile for yourself.

Care and lifespan

Care is the same for every Karpi rug and it is straightforward. Vacuum regularly without a rotating brush, so the pile keeps standing up well. Blot stains straight away with a slightly damp cloth, working from the outside in, so the stain does not spread. Turn the rug half a turn now and then, so it wears evenly instead of only along the walking route.

Where the rug lies says more about its lifespan than the price does. A few guidelines we also give in the showroom:

  • Under the dining table: choose low pile. Chair legs catch in a high pile and crumbs sink in deep. The middle price of the 109 low pile rugs is 263 euro.
  • In the seating area: this is where high pile comes into its own, because you walk less there and sit more. The middle price of the 169 high pile rugs is 388 euro.
  • Hallway, corridor or a home with pets: synthetic yarn is more practical here than wool, because it takes more foot traffic and a stain is easier to blot away.
  • Wool: beautiful and warm, but at 485 to 949 euro it is the most expensive group and not the cheapest route to a large rug.

Torn between two materials? Come and see the rugs in our showroom in Enschede and feel the difference. That helps more than any description.

Karpi rugs made to measure

The price is calculated per square metre and starts at 80 euro per m2 for a rectangle or a round rug, which puts a rug of 200 by 300 cm at 480 euro. On the product page you pick the shape, enter your dimensions and see the amount straight away. Allow a lead time of 6 to 8 weeks, because the rug is made especially for you.

Frequently asked questions about Karpi

Are Karpi rugs good quality?

Karpi designs and produces the rugs itself and so keeps control over how they are made. Whether a rug works out well for you depends mainly on the material and the pile type in relation to where it lies. Of the 290 rugs we carry, 100 contain a natural fibre and 159 synthetic yarn; 169 are high pile and 109 are low pile. For a busy walking route or under the dining table, low pile synthetic is the most practical, while in a seating area high pile and wool come into their own. Prices run from 43 to 1604 euro. Mokana is an official Karpi dealer, so you order from the manufacturer current range.

What is the difference between high pile and low pile at Karpi?

High pile has a longer pile and feels softer and warmer, low pile has a short pile and is easier to keep clean. In our collection 169 rugs are high pile and 109 are low pile. Under a dining table we recommend low pile, because chair legs catch in a high pile. In a seating area high pile is the more comfortable choice.

How do I care for a Karpi rug?

Vacuum regularly without a rotating brush, blot stains straight away with a slightly damp cloth from the outside in, and turn the rug half a turn now and then so it is loaded evenly. That applies to every Karpi rug, whatever the material.

Are Karpi rugs sustainable?

Sustainability plays a major role at Karpi. Many rugs are made from recycled yarns, and those yarns can be reused for a new rug at the end of their life.

Does Karpi make natural or synthetic rugs?

Both. Karpi produces rugs made from natural yarns, with a warm, authentic appearance, as well as synthetic rugs that are often hard-wearing and easy to maintain.

Which sizes and shapes are available?

The collection ranges from small accent rugs to generous carpets, in rectangular, round and oval designs. In our showroom in Enschede we are glad to help you choose the right size for your space.

Does Mokana also deliver Karpi in Germany?

Yes. We deliver with our own delivery service in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, including the German border region around Enschede.

Can I have a Karpi rug made to measure?

Yes. 166 Karpi rugs are available made to measure, in 5 shapes, from 60 cm up to 400 by 600 cm. You set the size on the product page.

What does a Karpi rug made to measure cost?

From 80 euro per square metre for a rectangle or a round rug, with a higher rate for cut shapes. A size of 200 by 300 cm comes to 480 euro at the entry rate. The lead time for made-to-measure is 6 to 8 weeks.
