What is a decorative sculpture?

A decorative sculpture is a sculptural object that stands in your interior purely for its presence. It gives a room an artistic accent and naturally draws the eye. Many of our sculptures are handmade, in Indonesia or in the Netherlands, which gives every piece a character of its own. Because this is craft work, individual pieces differ in detail and finish.

Which materials are available?

Our sculptures come in wood, metal (bronze or steel), clay and natural stone. Every material has its own character: wood is warm and natural with a visible grain, bronze and steel give a tough or smart look, clay looks crafted and soft, and natural stone radiates weight and timelessness. The choice of material strongly determines the mood, so choose what ties in with the rest of your interior. In our showroom you can see and feel the differences.

Which size suits your space?

Sculptures come in a wide range of sizes, from compact table sculptures of 15 to 30 cm to large floor sculptures of 80 to 150 cm. A small sculpture comes into its own on a sideboard, console table or bookcase, while a large piece can carry a room as a freestanding statement. Choose the size in proportion to the spot: a large sculpture needs space around it to breathe, a small sculpture works well in a group.

How do you place and combine a sculpture?

Place a sculpture on a sideboard, console table or as a freestanding floor statement. Combine it with other decoration in odd-numbered groups and vary the heights for a natural, polished look. Against a calm background the shape comes into its own best. Give a larger sculpture some space around it, so it can work as a focal point without the whole thing looking overcrowded.

How do you care for a decorative sculpture?

Care depends on the material. Wipe wooden sculptures with a dry cloth and keep them out of prolonged direct sunlight. Metal, clay and stone sculptures should likewise be dusted regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive or harsh products that can attack the finish. That way your sculpture stays beautiful for years. Ask in the showroom about the specific care that suits a particular material.
