Floating TV Units

A floating TV unit hangs on the wall and leaves the floor clear, which makes your living room feel lighter and roomier. It is a popular choice in modern, clean-lined interiors. Our collection includes more than 68 floating models, in various woods and widths, from compact to generous. Below you can read why you might choose a floating model, and what to look for in size, mounting and wood.

Why choose a floating TV unit?

Because the piece hangs clear of the floor, the room looks calmer and larger, and vacuuming or mopping is effortless. A floating unit emphasises the horizontal line in your interior and gives an almost weightless impression. In solid wood you combine that light, clean look with the warmth and character of natural material. Many models come in several widths within the same range, so you can match it exactly to your wall.

Which size and mounting height do you choose?

Choose a unit that is at least as wide as your TV, ideally 20 to 40 cm wider. The mounting height depends on your viewing position: the middle of the screen should ideally sit at eye level from the sofa. A common height for the underside is 30 to 40 cm from the floor. Make sure you have a sturdy, load-bearing wall or a suitable fixing, and allow for the weight of both the unit and your equipment.

How do you mount a floating TV unit safely?

A floating TV unit hangs on the wall with a sturdy wall system. On a solid brick or concrete wall that is possible almost anywhere. On a plasterboard wall, an extra construction or timber batten is needed to carry the weight safely. Always allow for the total weight of the unit plus the equipment that goes in or on it. If you are unsure about the right fixing for your wall, do ask for advice before you order.

Which wood for your floating TV unit?

Many of our floating models are in mango or teak. Mango wood TV units are versatile and affordable with a lively grain, and teak TV units are rich in oils and timeless. Both are available as floating models in our collection, in various tones from natural to darker finishes. For a coherent interior, match the TV unit to your coffee table, so the wood and colour return in the seating area.

Cables and equipment neatly tucked away

Our floating TV units have cable openings and often open compartments with good ventilation for your equipment. Plan in advance where the socket and cables will run, so everything disappears neatly out of sight and the clean, floating look is preserved. Good ventilation stops your receiver or player sitting hot in a closed compartment.
