Why choose an oval coffee table?

The oval shape has no sharp corners, which is reassuringly safe with children and handy in a busy household. You can walk around it easily and yet the table offers more surface area than a round one of the same width. That makes an oval coffee table a particularly good match for a corner sofa or an organic seating area, where people join from different directions.

Sizing advice

As standard, our oval coffee tables are roughly 100 to 140 cm long and 60 to 80 cm wide, with a height of 35 to 45 cm. For large living rooms we have models up to 160 cm. A handy rule of thumb for the length is roughly sixty per cent of the width of your sofa: with a 3-seater of 210 cm you would therefore choose a table of 120 to 140 cm. For lounge sofas with a low seat height, 35 cm works well; with a normal seat height, 40 to 45 cm.

Material and base

Choose from solid mango, suar wood, teak or sleek marble tops. The bases come in wood or in black, bronze and brushed steel. For a modern interior a combination of marble and steel is an obvious choice, while an all-wood table looks great in a country style. Marble tops are generally white-grey, beige or dark in colour.

Care

Wooden tops stay beautiful with a soft, slightly damp cloth followed by a dry wipe; deal with spills quickly to prevent stains. Marble is more porous, so mop up drips immediately and avoid acidic liquids on the surface. That way you enjoy your table for a long time.
