What is a reclining sofa and how does the adjustment work

A reclining sofa has one or more adjustable back and foot rests, so you can move from sitting upright to a fully relaxed reclined position. There are two types. A manual reclining sofa is set using your own weight or a lever on the side: simple, affordable and no power needed. An electric reclining sofa is operated with a button on the side or a remote control, often with several positions and sometimes a memory setting. As a rule the end seats of a sofa are adjustable; on a reclining sofa with three seat units, all seats can usually be operated separately.

A reclining sofa lasts for years if you look after it properly. Dust leather regularly and keep it supple with a suitable care product. Fabric upholstery benefits from regular vacuuming and from blotting spills straight away. On an electric model it pays to keep the cable or battery easily accessible.
