What is a 2-seater sofa and which materials are there

The 2-seater sofa is the most versatile size in the sofa range: small enough for a flat or a reading corner, generous enough to watch a film together. You can choose from leather, fabric, velvet and microfibre. Leather is tough and lasts a long time, fabric and velvet give a soft, warm look and microfibre is practical to care for. Light colours make a small room look bigger, while darker tones create a cosy, snug feel.

Sizing advice: which width suits you

Most 2-seater sofas are 140 to 180 cm wide, with a seat depth of roughly 90 to 105 cm. If you want two adults to sit really comfortably, choose at least 160 cm. A 2-seater sofa works from a room of roughly 12 m² upwards. For a small living room of up to 18 m² this is often the ideal main sofa; in a larger space it works beautifully as an addition alongside a corner sofa or in a reading corner.

2-seater sofa or loveseat

A loveseat is usually slightly more compact, roughly 140 to 160 cm, and specifically intended for two people sitting close together. A 2-seater sofa is generally a little more generous, around 160 to 180 cm. If you want two separate seating elements that you can rearrange later, combine a 2-seater sofa with a standalone armchair. Care by fabric type

Plump the cushions regularly and vacuum the sofa with a soft brush, which keeps the fabric nicely in shape. Deal with stains as quickly as possible and always follow the cleaning label for your specific upholstery. Keep leather supple with a suitable care product, and brush velvet in the direction of the pile. Ideally do not place the sofa in full sun, which keeps the colour looking good for longest.
