What is a bar table and which materials are there

A bar table usually stands around 105 to 110 cm high, taller than a dining table, so you can sit at it comfortably on bar stools or simply stand for a while. Our models combine warm solid wood, such as suar wood, mango and teak, with bases in steel in black, bronze or brushed gold. Wood brings character and a living structure, the metal gives the table a sturdy, modern foundation. The result is a top that is different every time on a frame that suits anything.

Sizing advice: height, length and number of people

Choose the size to suit your situation. In height it is usually 105 to 110 cm, with a depth of around 60 to 80 cm. The length determines how many people can pull up comfortably: a table of around 100 cm is pleasant for two, around 140 cm for three to four and from 200 cm you can seat a larger group. Allow around 60 cm of seating width per person, so everyone has enough elbow room. If you need a different height because of your worktop, made to measure is possible.

Base and style

The base has a strong influence on the mood. Choose steel with rough wood and you get an industrial, rugged look. Go for a sleek, plain frame and the table sits comfortably in a modern, calm interior. For a compact apartment a wall-mounted model with a folding top can be the answer, keeping the space clear when the table is not in use. Placement in the room

A bar table works best as a natural divider between kitchen and living room, behind a long counter or as a free-standing work surface in an open space. That way you mark out zones without building a wall and keep the sight lines open. Think about the walkways in advance: around the table and the bar stools you want enough room to pull up and to pass by.

Caring for wood and metal

Solid wood stays attractive with simple care. Wipe the top with a slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards, avoid standing moisture and keep the table out of strong, direct sunlight to prevent fading. Treat the wood now and then with a suitable care product to feed the grain. The metal base you simply wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. That keeps the combination of wood and steel looking sharp for years.
