Teak or aluminium: which material do you choose?

A teak garden bench is a genuine classic that can stay outside all year round. Teak is naturally rich in oils and therefore particularly weatherproof and winter-hardy. Under the influence of UV light, teak slowly changes to a beautiful silver-grey tone. If you would rather keep the warm honey colour, treat the bench once a year with teak oil. An aluminium garden bench is a good deal lighter in weight, so you can move it easily, and like teak it is weatherproof and winter-hardy. Both materials are made to stand outdoors and ask for little care.

Which garden bench size do you need?

Our garden benches are 120 to 200 cm wide as standard, suitable for 2 to 4 people. If you are after a sociable dining area in the garden, choose a width that suits your outdoor table and the number of people who regularly join. If you need a specific size, made-to-measure work up to 250 cm is possible for teak models. That way you make the most of the space available on your terrace or in your garden.

Comfortable seating and combining

Most garden benches have a seat height of around 45 cm, the same as our garden chairs. That is why you can combine them effortlessly around an outdoor table: the bench on one side, a couple of garden chairs on the other. For extra seating comfort, lay an all-weather cushion on the bench. Those cushions are not included with the bench as standard, but can be ordered separately in various colours. Caring for your garden bench

A teak garden bench asks for little maintenance thanks to the natural oils in the wood. If you let the bench turn silver-grey, in principle you need do nothing. If you want to keep the original honey colour, treat the teak once a year with teak oil. An aluminium bench you simply wipe with a damp cloth. Both benches can stay outside all year round.
