Velvet, also called velour, is a fabric with a short, dense pile that catches the light beautifully and gives depth to the colour. Velvet has a direction. Stroke it by hand in the smoothest direction for the most beautiful, even look: brush against the nap and you get a darker shadow effect. Bear in mind that dark velvet colours can fade in direct sunlight. For a sunny room it is therefore better to choose a lighter shade or to place the armchair out of direct sunlight. Dust the armchair lightly and regularly so the pile stays lying nicely.
