Where do I put a table lamp
A table lamp is versatile. On a sideboard it works as an accent light that gives a corner of the room atmosphere. On a side table beside your armchair it provides pleasant reading light. On a bedside table it serves as a bedside light for reading a little longer. So when choosing, think first about the function: pure atmosphere, or light to read by as well.
Choosing the right height
Match the height to the location. As a rough guide, count on 40 to 70 cm. On a sideboard, a taller lamp of 60 to 70 cm looks well proportioned. On a bedside table, 45 to 55 cm is generally comfortable, so the light falls at reading height without shining in your eyes. A lamp that is well proportioned to the furniture always looks calmer.
Light source and dimming
Choose the light source based on the function. For pure atmosphere an LED of 5 to 10 watts is enough. If you want to read by it, choose 10 to 15 watts. Many table lamps are dimmable with the right LED source and a dimming system, so you can go from bright reading light to soft evening light.
