Types of light for every room

Pendant lights hang above a table or kitchen island and give directed light with an atmospheric look. Floor lamps create mood in a living room corner or reading corner and are easy to move. Table lamps look good on a sideboard or side table and give a warm glow. Wall lights give indirect light and are ideal in hallways, along the stairs or as an atmospheric accent on the wall. That way you build a layered lighting scheme with several light sources.

Styles that suit your interior

Our lights come in a range of styles. Think of industrial models in black steel, modern lights in aluminium and glass, country versions in brass and rattan, and hotel chic lights in marble or brushed gold. So there is a fitting model for every style of living, whether your interior is sleek, warm or rugged. Match the finish to the materials of your furniture for a coherent whole.

LED, colour temperature and dimming

All our lights work with LED light sources: far more economical than halogen and with a much longer lifespan. For living spaces we advise a colour temperature of 2400K to 2700K, which gives extra warm white light. For kitchens and work spaces 3000K (warm white) works better, because you want a little more brightness there. Higher colour temperatures quickly look clinical in a living room. Many models are dimmable, provided you combine the right LED light source with a suitable dimmer switch.

Sizing advice for above the table

Hang a pendant light around 60 to 75 cm above the table top. That gives good lighting without glare when you are sitting at the table. With a long table, choose 2 or 3 smaller lights at equal spacing for a balanced look. For a round table, 1 large pendant of 50 to 70 cm diameter in the middle looks best, while for a longer oval table you are better off with several smaller lights or a long track fitting.

Do check the lamp holder on your fitting, so you choose the right LED light source.
