What is a sofa with a chaise longue

A chaise longue is an extended seat section that combines an ordinary sofa with a lounge chair. You sit on it comfortably and can stretch out at the same time, ideal for a film evening, a gaming session or a short power nap. The chaise longue takes up less room in use than a full corner sofa, which means this shape also fits a living room that is not especially large. That makes it a welcome middle ground between a straight sofa and a corner arrangement.

Choosing left or right

The chaise longue sits on the left or right side of the sofa, seen from the front. Stand in the spot where the sofa will go and decide which side you want to be able to lie on: choose left if you want to lie to the left from the seating position, right for the other way round. We supply many models in both versions. If you want flexibility, choose a modular sofa where you position the chaise longue yourself and can move it later.

Sizing advice and clear space

Most sofas with a chaise longue are 220 to 280 cm long, with a chaise longue depth of around 150 to 175 cm. Allow at least 250 cm of length and 175 cm of depth in clear space. For a compact living room, choose a version around 200 cm; for a generous arrangement, go towards 300 cm or more. Materials and care

Choose from leather in tones such as cognac, brown and black, fabric such as bouclé, velvet and woven qualities, or practical microfibre. Plump the cushions regularly and vacuum the sofa with a soft brush, and everything keeps its shape. Treat stains quickly and follow the cleaning label for your upholstery. Keep leather supple with a suitable care product, and brush velvet in the direction of the pile.
