Description
Ninety centimetres wide and one hundred and twenty centimetres high: that format makes Beauty Behind Colours work as a calm focal point above a sofa or sideboard, as well as a standalone piece on an open wall. The upright proportions fill the space above furniture of average width without overwhelming the wall.
On the canvas, a woman looks back over her shoulder, amid bold strokes of blue, red and yellow. The contrast between the dark skin tones and those vivid colours gives the portrait strength and depth. It is produced using giclée printing and finished by hand, which gives the paint layers a tangible texture. That handmade finishing means small variations in colour and form can occur, making every piece subtly its own.
