Description
At 82.5 cm wide and 122.5 cm high, this painting asks for room on the wall. Above a sofa or sideboard, it genuinely fills the space without taking over the room. On an open wall, it also works as a standalone piece, with the 4.5 cm deep box frame giving just enough relief.
The gorilla wears a gold coloured suit with a dark tie and a red flower, finished off with a glass and a cigar. The dark, speckled background lets that warm suit do the talking. The piece is built up from canvas on a wooden frame, painted in acrylic and finished using giclée technique, hand refined afterwards. Because of this handwork, small differences in colour and shape can occur, so each piece is slightly its own.
