Description
Bold, loose patches of paint across the gorilla's body contrast with the finely drawn lines of the richly decorated armchair in which he sits sprawled out. The white background lets this humorous ape portrait breathe fully, drawing all attention to its posture and colour. The hand finishing gives the surface a subtle texture that stands out as daylight moves across it.
Gorilla op de troon is made from canvas on a wooden frame, finished with acrylic paint. The giclée technique delivers sharp detail, after which each piece is further finished by hand. This means small differences in colour and shape can occur, giving the painting its own character.
