Description
At 142 cm wide and 72 cm high, this painting needs a decent stretch of open wall, but it rewards that space with a calm, horizontal composition. Above a low sideboard or a wide console unit, it fills the wall without overwhelming it. The 4 cm deep tray frame in silver holds the piece slightly away from the wall, giving it a subtle sense of floating.
The image itself shows a dark horizon with light passages of paint mirrored across it. Subtle gold tones soften the contrast between black and grey. The artist worked in acrylic on canvas, adding metal foil, craquelure and glitter as finishing touches, so the surface catches the light differently throughout the day. Because each piece is hand painted, small variations in colour and form can occur: no two works by Hiskiart are entirely alike.
