Description
On the wall, the glint of metallic foil catches the eye first. It reflects light differently to the rest of the canvas, creating a subtle sense of depth as you walk past. The well known girl with the pearl earring finds herself in a new setting here: colourful graffiti and paint drips take over the classic background. The calm portrait deliberately contrasts with those street art accents, and that contrast is what holds the gaze.
The piece is made from canvas on a wooden frame, finished with acrylic paint. The giclée technique has been hand finished, so slight variations in colour and shape can occur between pieces. The box frame, with its black side and silver coloured front, gives the work a clean edge without distracting from the image itself.
