Description
Canvas on a wooden frame, fully hand painted with acrylic paint: that is how this portrait of an African elephant came about. The artist worked with metal foil and a craquelure finish, giving the surface a weathered, textured character. Not a flat image, but one with relief and depth.
The elephant, with its broad ears, appears in soft brown and sand tones, calm and understated. The portrait format turns it into an animal portrait that draws the eye without shouting for attention. Because each piece is finished by hand, small differences in colour and shape can occur, making every piece slightly individual.
