The coffee table Miranda by World of Brosi is not a straight-lined coffee table but a tribute to the natural shape of the tree from which it is made. The solid suar wood top follows the original contours of the tree trunk in a flowing S-curve, retaining the complete live edge on both long sides. Beneath the top, two solid root legs carry the table, formed from the original root systems that were once attached to this or similar trees. A sculptural statement piece that instantly raises a living room, lounge or living space to a higher level.

The signature: twin root base

What truly makes the Miranda unique is the base. Two heavy root legs carry the top, each with its own organic shape full of cavities, knots and twisted patterns that can only form over hundreds of years of natural growth. No two root legs are identical, and the combination of two different root legs beneath a continuous top makes each Miranda a one-off sculptural statement. The roots are carefully cleaned, dried, treated and mounted at exactly the right coffee table height, so that the table can be used comfortably in front of the sofa without losing its sculptural character.

Organic top with full live edge

The top is cut from a wide suar trunk, with the organic shape deliberately preserved. Along both long sides, the natural live edge runs in an S-curve, while the end sides show the natural termination of the trunk. The wood displays the rich caramel to warm beige nuances that are characteristic of mature suar trees, with a lively figuring that, under specific light, seems to make the entire top breathe. The generous dimension of approximately 200 cm makes this coffee table ideal for larger seating areas, wide lounge sofas or a corner arrangement, with ample room for a tray, art books, ceramics and a large decorative object.

Suar wood, the Indonesian monkeypod

Suar wood, better known internationally as monkeypod or botanically Albizia saman, is a tropical hardwood species that grows mainly on Java and in other parts of Indonesia. The tree can reach an age of more than a hundred years and yields wide trunks that lend themselves excellently to sculptural single-piece tables. The wood combines light caramel colours in the sapwood with deeper brown tones in the heartwood, often with a dramatic contrast within the same plank. Suar is moreover stable, wear-resistant and well able to withstand temperature fluctuations, provided it is protected from direct sunlight and large moisture variations.

Maintenance

Suar wood is naturally stable and strong, provided it is well maintained. We advise wiping it dry with a soft cloth and removing stains immediately with a lightly damp cloth. Once every six to twelve months, treating it with a neutral furniture oil keeps the wood in optimal condition and enhances the natural grain. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and do not place hot or very moist objects directly on the top. Use coasters for warm bowls and glasses. The root legs may develop small natural cracks due to temperature changes, this is part of the authentic character of solid wood and is not a product fault.
