Coffee Tables

Complete your seating area with a coffee table that is right in size and material. From organic and round to sleek and robust.

Coffee Tables

The coffee table is the centrepiece of your living room: the piece the sofa sits around, where the cup of coffee lands and where your decoration comes together. At Mokana Meubelen in Enschede you can choose from a wide collection of coffee tables in solid wood and design, arranged between the sofas so you can see straight away how shape and height play with your seating area.

What is a coffee table and which material suits you

A coffee table is the low table that visually anchors the seating area. The choice starts with the material, because that sets the mood. Mango wood is warm brown with a live edge, affordable and hard-wearing. Suar wood is a tropical hardwood with a dramatic, marble-like pattern: our speciality, often as a tree trunk table with an organic top. Teak is rich in oils, moisture-resistant and timeless, and develops a beautiful patina over the years. Alongside that there are clean marble tops as a statement, industrial models with a metal base and light glass tables that give visual space.

Sizing advice: which coffee table suits your sofa

The right size is all about proportion. Aim for a coffee table around two thirds of the sofa length. So a 3-seater sofa of 220 cm calls for a table of 140 to 150 cm. Keep at least 40 cm clear between sofa and table, so you can sit comfortably, have room for your legs and get up easily. In terms of height, a top at the same height as the seat or just a little lower is the most pleasant. If you want flexibility, choose a set of two or three nesting tables that you pull apart when you need more surface.

Shape and version: round, oval, rectangular or square

The shape determines how the table sits in your seating area. A round coffee table looks sociable and follows the line of organic sofas beautifully. An oval table combines surface with a light, elegant line. A rectangular table is classic and offers the most room for use and decoration: with a corner sofa in an L-arrangement, place it parallel to the longest side. A square table is compact and modern and works well in the middle of a U-arrangement. In style it runs from industrial, with solid wood and black metal, through clean modern and warm country to calm Japandi with natural materials.

Caring for a wooden coffee table

Solid wood lasts for decades if you look after it a little. Dust the table regularly and treat the top about once a year with natural furniture oil to feed the colour and the wood. Use coasters under hot dishes and blot stains dry straight away, certainly with marble, which is sensitive to acids such as lemon and wine. If you want extra protection, you can opt for a transparent matt protective layer. Our consultants are happy to tell you which care routine suits your wood.

Why buy your coffee table at Mokana

In our furniture store at Hogelandsingel 49 in Enschede the coffee tables are arranged beside the sofas and corner sofas, so you can really judge the scale and the mood before you choose. You feel the difference between a smooth marble top and a rough suar wood edge, and our consultants know the proportion rules by heart. Almost every table can be made to measure here in length, width, height and base. We deliver with our own service throughout the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, bringing the piece right into the room.

What else goes with a coffee table

A coffee table looks its best as part of a whole. Choose a sofa and a TV unit in the same wood or colour tone for calm in the room. Decorate the top with atmospheric table lamps, a wooden animal or a bowl, and keep it playful with a set of nesting tables if you often shift your layout around. For customers from Twente and the German border region the showroom is centrally located, with free parking right outside.
