The result is a piece that feels centuries old and looks absolutely modern at the same time.
What is monkeypod suar wood?
Monkeypod, also known as rainbow wood or Samanea saman, is one of the most expressive types of wood in the world. The broad, irregular grain, the warm honey and amber tones and the extreme hardness make it a favoured choice for high-quality furniture. Every piece of suar wood carries within it the texture of decades of growth: twists, colour shifts and a depth that manufactured wood can never match.
A root base like no other
The base of this desk is not a construction: it is a discovery. The natural root mass has been selected for its load-bearing capacity and its beauty, cleaned, dried and finished by hand. No two pieces are identical. What you see in the photograph is never precisely what you receive at home: it is always unique, but always equally impressive.

Finish & care
The tabletop is hand-sanded and treated with a protective oil that nourishes the wood without masking its natural appearance. For maintenance, an annual treatment with teak or hardwood oil is sufficient. The wood is alive: a slight colour change under the influence of light is characteristic and contributes to the patina.

Frequently asked questions
Do you carry the furniture into the room?
Yes, where that is possible. With enough space, a wide enough passage and a lift if there is one, our own drivers put the piece down exactly where you want it. If that cannot be done, we deliver to the front door. Not sure it will fit through your hallway or stairwell? Tell us before the delivery date and we will look at it with you.
Is this piece assembled for me?
What you order in the webshop is delivered but not assembled. Buy the same piece in our store in Enschede and our drivers do place and assemble it on site, and take the packaging away with them.
What does delivery cost?
Within 35 kilometres of Enschede we deliver free of charge. Beyond that, anywhere in the Netherlands you pay 50 euro per order rather than per item, so a sofa and a dining table together cost the same as one of them. Belgium is 100 euro. From 1,000 euro we deliver free within the Netherlands; solid tree trunk tables are excluded from both arrangements because they are too heavy. For Starfurn, Livingfurn and Brix delivery is already free from 250 euro, and for Richmond Interiors from 150 euro.
When will my order be delivered?
The delivery time for this piece is shown with the product on this page. Once it is in, we get in touch to agree a delivery slot together, based on where you live and our delivery route. You are not simply assigned a day you had no say in.
Can I collect the order myself?
Yes. You can collect your order at our store at Hogelandsingel 49 in Enschede. We contact you first, as soon as it is ready for you.
