TV units

Widths from ninety centimetres to two and a half metres, in solid wood, oak veneer and matt lacquer, standing or wall-mounted.

Floating or standing

A wall-mounted unit makes a room feel larger because you can see the floor underneath, and it is easier to clean around. It does need a solid wall and proper fixings, which is not a given in newer Dutch houses with plasterboard partitions.

A standing unit can go anywhere and usually offers more storage. If you are unsure about your wall, standing is the safe answer.

Getting the width right

As a rule the unit should be wider than the television, ideally by a good margin on each side, otherwise the screen looks as though it is about to fall off. For a 55-inch screen, about 123 centimetres wide, a unit of 180 or more sits comfortably.

Also think about cables. Most of our units have openings at the back and space for a soundbar or a games console.
