Sideboard, display cabinet or bookcase
A sideboard is low and long: it stores what you would rather not see and gives you a surface for a lamp and a bowl. A display cabinet is tall with glass, made for the things you do want to see. A bookcase is open, which looks lighter but demands that you keep it tidy.
In a room that already has a lot going on, closed storage calms things down. In a sparse room, open shelving adds the life it lacks.
Solid wood and doors
Watch the door mechanism. Solid wood doors are heavy, so hinges and soft-close mechanisms are where quality shows over the years. All our cabinets have proper hardware; ask us to open and close a few in the showroom and you will feel the difference immediately.
