This Stier coffee table by World of Brosi is not a piece of furniture in the usual sense of the word, it is a sculptural work of art that also happens to serve as a table. Indonesian master carvers have shaped a lifelike bull's head from a single solid block of teak, complete with impressive horns, detailed coat, powerful nose and the characteristic black eyes that bring the piece to life. The top has a raw organic edge that follows the natural form of the tree trunk, while the horns rise above the head as a natural finish.

Sculptural craftsmanship

The carving is carried out entirely by hand by artisans with generations of experience in working tropical hardwoods. Every muscle, every curl in the coat and every groove in the horns has been created with traditional wood carving tools. The detailed execution means the bull looks different from every angle, particularly the interplay of light and shadow around the nostrils and the gaze of the eyes gives the piece an expressive, almost mythical character. Because each example is carved by hand, no table is identical to another.

Touching it up once every six to twelve months with a neutral furniture oil keeps both the top and the carving in optimal condition and enhances the natural grain of the wood. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and do not place hot pans or damp glasses directly on the surface.
