Suar wood (scientific name: Albizia Saman, also known as Munggur or Rain Tree) is a tropical hardwood species originating from Indonesia. That long growth period is precisely what makes suar wood so special: each additional year of growth is recorded in the wood structure as a new pattern of grain, growth rings and colour variations.

Suar wood stands out for its warm golden-brown colour with dark vein patterns and expressive flame markings. The heartwood ranges from light golden brown to deep chocolate brown, while the sapwood: the outer layer just beneath the bark: is very light in colour.
