Suar wood tree-trunk tables

This is what we are known for. Suar is a tropical hardwood with a dramatic grain and a natural edge, and every slab is different. You are not choosing a model, you are choosing a specific piece of wood.

Why every table is different

A suar table is cut from a single trunk, so the grain, the colour and the shape of the edge are determined by the tree rather than by a designer. Two tables of the same nominal size can look entirely unalike. That is the point of them.

Because of that, the slabs in our showroom are the slabs we have. If you see one you like, it is worth deciding: there is no second one behind it in the warehouse.

Building your table

A finished table is three choices: the slab, the base and the finish. Bases range from a simple steel U-frame to a matching wooden trunk foot. The finish is oil or matt lacquer.

We can also supply a slab on its own if you already have a base, and we sell the bases separately. Come and see them in person if you can, because photographs flatten the grain.

Frequently asked

Is the wood sustainably sourced?
Suar is a fast-growing tropical species, and our slabs come from trees felled for agricultural land clearance rather than from primary forest. We can tell you the origin of a specific slab.
How heavy is a suar table?
Considerably. A 240 centimetre slab weighs well over a hundred kilos, which is why our own team delivers and places them rather than a courier.
