The piece that pulls a seating area together. We sell a lot of solid wood here too: suar and teak root tables where the shape is decided by the tree rather than by a designer.
Getting the proportion right
A coffee table works best at roughly two thirds the length of your sofa, and at about the same height as the seat or a touch lower. Leave forty centimetres between table and sofa so you can walk past without shuffling sideways.
With a corner sofa, two smaller tables often beat one large one: you can move them apart when there is company and push them together when there is not.
Root and trunk tables
Our organic suar and teak tables are cut from a single piece, so no two are alike. They are heavy, they age beautifully, and they are the sort of thing people ask about. If you want one, come and pick the actual piece: photographs flatten the grain completely.

- Do these tables need maintenance?
- An oiled top benefits from re-oiling once or twice a year, which takes about twenty minutes. Lacquered tops need nothing beyond normal cleaning. We supply the right oil with the table.
