Dining tables
We sell a lot of solid wood. Oak, mango, teak and suar, in round, oval and rectangular shapes, with steel or wooden bases. Many can be made to your measurements.
How much table do you actually need
Allow about sixty centimetres of width per person and at least eighty centimetres of clearance around the table so chairs can be pushed back. A table of 180 by 90 seats six comfortably; 220 by 100 seats eight.
Round tables are more sociable and take up less visual space, but the practical limit is about eight people before nobody can reach the middle. Oval is often the better compromise in a narrow room.
Wood and finish
Oak is the safe choice: hard, pale, ages well. Mango is warmer in tone and considerably more affordable. Teak and suar are the character woods, with visible grain, natural edges and colour variation from plank to plank.
All our solid tops are finished with oil or lacquer. Oil is repairable at home and feels natural underhand; lacquer is more resistant to wine and grease. We are happy to explain the trade-off for your household.

- Can I have a table made to my own dimensions?
- For many models, yes. Length and width can often be specified to the centimetre, and you choose the base. Ask us for the options on a specific model.
- Does solid wood move?
- Yes, all solid wood expands and contracts with humidity. That is normal and not a defect. We explain how to keep a room at a sensible humidity so the movement stays small.
